    Gibberellic acid (Ga3)

is a hormone found in plants and fungi. It helps to germinate seeds by activating the genome of dormant cells that are in a repressed state and is suggested the possibility that GA3 breaks seed dormancy by a mechanism of gene derepression. Gibberellic Acid is commonly used with carnivorous plant seeds that are very hard to germinate because they are imposed by the seed coats, which form a significant barrier to water uptake. The dormant embryo can be activated either by removal of the seed coat, which increases 02 supply and leaching of endogenous inhibitors or by treatment with a high concentration of GA3. The effect of GA3 is correlated with a very small increase in the respiration rate, therefore, growth is not limited by the low internal 02 concentration.

In short, seeds have a protective outer layer that keeps seeds from germinating too soon. Typically, seeds are formed in the fall and need to survive the winter months without germinating, otherwise, the cold and dry season will prevent the seedling from surviving. When spring arrives, warmer temperatures and heavy rainfall tend to arrive as well. This gradual change begins to break down that protective layer which then allows water to penetrate into the seeds. The moisture and oxygen water gives activates the seed and germination begins.

There are many reasons why some seeds have a very hard preservative outer layer. The reasons depend on the region from which the seeds populated. Some seeds need extreme weather fluctuations, most of the time they even need a couple of season changes before the outer layer is broken down. There are even seeds that need natural fires for the seeds to have that layer broken down, and the most common are seeds that need to be digested by an animal for their stomach acid to break down this layer. They later excrete the seeds elsewhere. So, Ga3 prevents the need for those conditions which aid in faster germination for seeds that are very hard to sprout. It is even proven that it helps in bettering a seedling's root system.

  • Petiolaris Complex Sundew Seed Mix

    Petiolaris Complex Sundew Seed Mix

    $7.50
Petiolaris Complex Sundew Seed Mix includes 10+ seeds from various hybrids to pure species. The mix will also include our personal stash of hybrids that we do not sell but use for our breeding program. They also include seeds of pure species that we do not sell seeds of just so we can replenish our stock of live plants. The reason we offer this option is that we do not throw away any seeds pods. Instead, we add them to small airtight bags, store in the fridge, and after a while the seeds we left behind and didn't harvest finally fall out. We photograph every pure species flower so you can always compare to see if one of your seeds produced a pure species. This is a lucky grab bag of awesomeness. There are way more varieties of plants than are shown in the main photograph.

  • Pingucula ehlersiae x immaculata

    Pingucula ehlersiae x immaculata

    $19.98
Pinguicula ehlersiae x immaculata is a very cool hybrid. This plant seems to not only get its color from the amount of light it receives, but also the way the leaves lay. This plant grows a tight rosette with erect green leaves, with the tips and edges of the leaves showing a dark rust color, when grown under subtle light. When given intense light, this plant will spread out more with flatter kaying leaves, they will turn a nice brownish pink shade with rust-colored tips and edges. There are hardly any hybrids out there like this one and is the reason we had to sell it.

    Purchase options are:

Bare-root - plant is sold without soil and is carefully packaged.

With soil - Plant is bare-root carefully packaged and includes 1 cup of mineral soil specifically made for Pinguiculas. It is rinsed 3x plus sterilized before shipment. (Recommended)

  • Drosera Sundew Plant Food

    Drosera Sundew Plant Food

    $19.99
Drosera Sundew Plant Food - Finally, after five years of developing and a full year of testing, we are excited to offer our liquid carnivorous plant food supplement (Drosera). This product was inspired by an idea to have a nutritious supplement that is very convenient and easy to use. This has been the primary source of nutrition for our Drosera petiolaris complex sundews for more than a year. The recommended dose for each Drosera plant is 1-2 drops every other week. 3 drops every other week can be used to promote flowering for many Drosera species.

    Benefits:

    * Prevents mold even with poor air circulation.
    * Leaves traps in pristine condition
    * Improves and boosts vegetative growth
    * Promotes healthy roots
    * Increased nutrition uptake from easy digestion
    * Increases the rate of plant reproduction
    * Easy and fast application

This liquid supplement is perfectly balanced nutrition for carnivorous plants (N, 99-121; P, 6-14.7; K, 1.5-31.8; Ca, 22.5; Mg, 0.94). This supplement is designed to increase the intake of both nitrogen + phosphate microelements.

Typical forms of feeding can lead to overstress of traps, especially if the insect is larger than the trap. Solid food larger than the trap can cause it to mold. Since it takes a lot of energy for a trap to digest food, the trap usually is destroyed from mold way before the trap was able to receive the nutrition it would have gained. Our supplement has a special blend of solid material to activate traps and enough liquid to keep traps healthy. One trap can be fed with this supplement many times before dying off due to the ease of this supplement's digestion.

There are approximately 1,075 drops per bottle.

    Pinguicula 'Bugbane'

    $19.99
This hybrid appears to be a cross between P. gigantea and P. moranensis, based on the flower color and leaf attributes. The huge size of this hybrid when full grown convinces me that one parent is gigantea, the largest of known Pinguiculas, while the flower color looks like what you'd expect if you crossed moranensis and gigantea. Also, moranensis is probably the most common Ping, so it's no surprise that some bug cross-pollinated these two species in a greenhouse somewhere, giving rise to this vigorous and productive hybrid!

The plant genus cyclosecta structure very little rosettes of leaves. Throughout the late spring months, the plant produces leaves that are shrouded in organ hairs on their side. These leaves are equipped for obtaining (trapping), slaughtering, and process very little creepy crawly prey for the plant. the perimeters of the leaves may be coloured a somewhat blue purple, and in splendid lightweight, the entire leaf may be this shading. Throughout the winter months, the plant loses it's meat consumption leaves and delivers a rosette of decreased succulent leaves. A solitary profound purple blossom is delivered toward the end of a brief bloom stalk.

"Pinguicula ‘Red Starfish’ provides an unusual look that is much more “carnivorous” compared to other Pinguicula species or established cultivars. As the plant resemble dangerous predator of tropical coral reefs, we decided to name the new cultivar Pinguicula ‘Red Starfish’. This plant originated in Botanical garden of Liberec (Czech Republic) in 1994 as a cross between red leaved Pinguicula moranensis and Pinguicula heterophylla. This clone was selected in 1997 with a special emphasis on the flower color." — Miroslav Srba • Mokra • Czech Republic

  • Pinguicula Gigantia

    Pinguicula Gigantia

    $19.99
Pinguicula gigantea, in contrast to most Pinguicula species, has sticky carnivorous leaves on both the top and underneath. The leaves have trichomes on them, which secrete a mucilage that trap prey (small insects) for it's nutrition. P. gigantea's leaves are amongst the greatest in its genus. The species name describes the gigantic characteristic of it's leaves.

  • Pinguicula Yucca Doo 1713

    Pinguicula Yucca Doo 1713

    $19.99
Pinguicula Yucca Doo 1713 (Label: ABG 97-1713 Yucca Do 60-19-031695) may possibly be a new species considering there are many new species that have yet to be discovered. As far as we are concerned, it sure looks like a unique species, even though it is still a mystery to us and the rest of the growers around the world. This plant does not grow very large. So far we have gotten one to grow 1 inch in diameter. But for its small size, the leaves have a very deep elongated concave in the center that matches the leaf's shape. The center of each leaf can turn a shade of light pink to dark red depending on the amount of light. This beautiful color is contrasted with a light green lip that curves inward to help keep trapped bugs and dew contained. Unfortunately, there isn't much information to help understand the location of this species, but it is fun to own one to document and research.

    $24.99
Drosera (ordensis x brevicornis) x darwiniensis - Drosera (ordensis x brevicornis) x darwiniensis - This is one of our FAVORITES! It is a triple hybrid. The seed parents are a hybrid of ordensis x brevicornis. Its pollen parent is darwiniensis. They are from the Drosera petiolaris complex sundew group. Its leaves are very wide from the base and only begins to taper off just before it reaches its large round traps. They have a very small amount of pubescent hair. Once mature it will flower daily. Matter of fact, I never have one that isn't in bloom every day. Most have two or three blooms every day on one plant. One plant will have multiple flower stalks up to six inches or more and will produce up to 70 flowers on just one stalk. This is perfect for us since we use this plant as the base genetics to our "breeding program". Sign up for notifications to be alerted when its offspring are available for sale.
The flowers are snow white and produce a decent amount of pollen.

Drosera aff. fulva x brevicornis - This hybrid could easily pass as a pure type D. ordensis, even though neither parent is an ordensis. Maybe the affinity has the ordensis gene? It is very hard to determine which characteristics were inherited from either parent. It really makes ya understand how pure species evolved from hybrids. These interesting attributes make this a very unique plant. The best quality of this plant is the older leaves will stain orange, perfectly matching the bright orange traps This is a very fun and easy plant to grow.

    Drosera broomensis x ordensis

    $24.99
Drosera broomensis x ordensis - This is a great hybrid and it gets HUGE! So far my mother plant has gotten 5 inches tall and 5 inches wide and she is only close to being a year old. The leaves are white from dendritic hairs which it has obviously inherited from its pollen parent (ordensis). They are long and thin like its seed parent (broomensis). The traps are a bright red which favors ordensis but their shape is an almost perfect combination of both parents. It is a very easy plant to grow and so worth it.

    Drosera darwinensis x ordensis

    $24.99
Drosera darwinensis x ordensis - This another hybrid that has amazed us. It doesn't matter what humidity it is grown in, it will produce a lot of hair on its wide leaves turning them white. It changes whenever it wants. The only thing that does stay consistent are the big round traps that easily produce dew.

Its long slender green leaves that lead to large traps really make it look more like some forms of Drosera kenneallyi. All it would need is some Drosera falconeri shaped traps, then it really would. Makes you really think about the evolution of the Drosera kenneallyi and if this hybrid could be the building blocks to it. This hybrid, however, has nice large oval-shaped traps much like darwinensis, but the pad bowls which was inherited from its fulva parent. Its new leaves grow erect like fulva but begin to lay flat to the ground like darwinensis. This hybrid tends to bloom in late summer. It does divide.

Drosera kenneallyi 'Fog Bay' "N.T. form" (Ant-Mound Region)

    $59.99
Drosera kenneallyi 'Fog Bay' N.T. form - This is a gorgeous and very rare species. We were lucky to have at least one seed germinate so all plants sold are a division from that singleton seedling. Its large oval traps and long thin leaves turn a very deep red color with intense light. The best part is how the whole plant turns the same deep red. This plant loves to be grown in submerged water. Its long thin leaves allow the traps to rise above the water level so its oval-shaped traps can float on the water's surface. This plant also thrives when its traps are submerged under water which allows them to trap small aquatic life such as baby minnow, tadpoles etc.
